Bethany Theological Seminary: Located in Richmond Indiana, the seminary for the Church of the Brethren denomination is approximately one hour drive east of Indianapolis. Northview has been the placement congregation for many pastors in training, as well as providing financial support to the institution and the students who call Northview their home church.
Camp Mack: Camp Alexander Mack is a Christian Camp, Conference, and Retreat Center located on 200+ acres on the eastern shore of Lake Waubee in Northern Indiana. We support the church camp experience by volunteering as counselors, providing scholarships for campers, and including Camp Mack in our annual budget.
: Northview participates in the annual CROP Walk in the Fall, often raising an amazing amount of pledged donations. We also collect supplies for CWS kits shipped to people in need around the world. CWS provides School Kits, Hygiene Kits, Baby Care Kits, and Emergency Cleanup Buckets.
Global Gifts: We like to shop at the fair trade stores in central Indiana, selling items from 10,000 Villages and SERRV. The store “creates opportunities for artisans around the globe to earn a fair wage” through a chain of stores selling products produced for living wages. People from Northview have volunteered and worked at Global Gifts over the years. Global Gifts is also our ‘anchor booth’ for our annual Alternative Christmas Fair.
Global Women’s Project (GWP): Rooted in the Church of the Brethren, GWP seeks to educate about wealth, power and oppression, encouraging one another to live more simply, being mindful of our luxuries, and join in empowerment with women around the world, sharing resources with women’s initiatives.
Heifer International: Founded by a Hoosier Brethren after World War II, Heifer International’s mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth. Northview supports Heifer by collecting quarters on an on-going basis, as well as collecting contributions at the Alternative Christmas Fair.
Manchester University: A Church of the Brethren university in Northern Indiana. Manchester grads find Northview a welcoming home when they settle in the Indianapolis area. Northview supports Manchester in our annual budget.
New Community Project: encourages living more sustainably with the earth and more fairly with its people. Several Northview members have taken Learning Tours through NCP.
On Earth Peace: helps individuals, congregations, communities, and other groups grow in peace through powerful programs of training and accompaniment.
South/Central Indiana District: Northview supports the district financially and participates in district conference. Individuals participate in district committees and events, often in leadership roles.
Supportive Communities Network: The Supportive Communities Network is a network of Church of the Brethren and Mennonite communities who are publically affirming of gay, lesbian, transgender, and bisexual members. As a member congregation, Northview endeavors to be a “safe space” for lgbt people and their families and supports the full participation of lgbt Christians in our community and in the larger church.
SITEAW: stands for Shifting Ideas through Education for African Women. Sister Stella is dedicated to empowering girls and women in order to let them break the chains of oppressive traditions and have a second chance in life. Northview supports SITEAW financially as well as volunteering at local programs.
Tenderness Tour: Created by Northview member Richard Propes, Tenderness Tour raises funds and raises awareness to bring an end to domestic violence.
Northview hosts an Alternate Christmas Fair each November, which is an opportunity to learn more about many of our partners in ministries. Gifts of money and pledges of time can be donated in honor of a friend or family member as an alternative to traditional gifts.
